2025-06-06 – I’m Going on a 22 Day Solo Cruise to Alaska

Alaska's number one cruise line, Princess Cruises, and I'm heading out on one.
Embarking on a 22-day solo Alaskan cruise with Princess Cruises is a dream come true. This journey promises breathtaking landscapes, diverse wildlife, and immersive cultural experiences.

Why Solo Cruising?

While my husband can’t commit to extended travel due to work constraints, my remote job offers the flexibility to explore the world while working part-time. Traveling solo allows me to gather experiences and insights, so when he’s ready to join, I can guide our adventures with confidence. There’s also a unique freedom in solo travel—making spontaneous decisions, setting my own pace, and taking a break from daily responsibilities. Alaska has always been on my bucket list, and this solo voyage feels like the perfect opportunity to immerse myself fully.

This will be my first visit to Alaska.
Ruby Princess Interior Cabin
To make my 22 day cruise more affordable, I opted for an interior room

Choosing an Inside Cabin

Typically, I opt for balcony rooms to enjoy ocean views. However, to extend this trip, I’ve chosen an inside cabin, which is both economical and practical. I tend to sleep better in darker environments, and the absence of natural light might just provide the restful nights I need. One of my best travel sleeps was in a windowless, soundproof room at Heathrow Airport—it was blissful.

The Ruby Princess

The Ruby Princess is a Crown-class ship accommodating 3,080 guests with a crew of 1,200. Launched in 2008 and refurbished in 2023, it boasts 19 decks, nearly 900 balconies, and amenities like Movies Under the Stars®, multiple dining venues including the Crown Grill and International Café, and four outdoor pools.
