Biloxi, Mississippi
My husband and I headed over to the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino, in Biloixi, Mississippi again this month for a quick overnight. We time it to arrive just in time to check in, test our luck for a few hours in the casino, and then head to dinner.
We got a Gulf View room on a lower floor which allowed us to see the gulf and also the pool area. While it was too cold for the pool, it is a good reminder that they have a nice pool area with cabanas available for when the weather gets better. I’m a slots kinda girl had a great time playing even if I ended up down in the end. My husband was able to get a spot in the poker room pretty quickly and he enjoyed his gaming as well.
BR Prime, the steakhouse within the casino portion of the resort, is our go-to dinner when we are staying the night. My dirty martini did not skimp on the blue-cheese stuffed olives and I was in heaven. It acted line an appetizer, and a dessert for me! Our service was excellent and while we had declined dessert, they did bring us a small plate of surprisingly good chocolates, and a little case of macarons to take back to our room.
Road Trip - Asheville, North Carolina
My “big” trip this month was a road trip to Asheville, NC. My daughter is the lacrosse goalie for her college, and they happened to be scheduled to play the college my son attends, so that seemed like a fun time to make it to a game.
Originally, my husband and son were going to drive there with me, but unfortunately last minute work and school requirements popped up so I hit the road solo. I did my my in-laws there and we had a house rental for the weekend.
Let me start with saying, this was my first trip back to the area since Hurrincane Helene devastated the area. And it was clear that there was a LOT of rebuilding and repair left to be done in the area. I tried stopping at the regular grocery store I go to when visiting, and it was still being renovated post storm and wasn’t open yet.
I had rented a house since it was originally going to be 5-6 of us, so it ended up being way too much house for us but it was lovely and comfortable…except for the drive up. There was a narrow, winding, steep private road to the rental where a large section had been washed out by the storm so it was all gravel and dirt. I’m grateful for my all wheel drive car and no rain during our visit.
